[Aztlan] ADMIN: CURRENT TOPICS ON AZTLAN

Estimados Listeros,

We, the moderators of Aztlan, recently asked list
members to please limit the amount of posts sent
regarding the new movie "Apocalypto", but encouraged
those interested in pursuing the topic of "Human
Sacrifice among the Maya" to continue.

We thank all of you for adhering to our suggestion.

However, we would like those involved in the Human
Sacrifice thread to please consider your posts
carefully.  Aztlan (as mentioned in our "Welcome
Message") is not an open forum for oratory on modern
attitudes.  While this is certainly a valid topic for
anthropology and the social sciences in general, we at
Aztlan would like the topics to adhere to the factual
data available (rather than beliefs or attitudes
towards the data).

We recognize (and we hope that all list members
recognize) that the topic of human sacrifice is a
subject that may be used or abused for various agendas
(as has already been mentioned in this thread).  We at
Aztlan would like to be the source for the "facts" on
this topic, rather than the outlet for such agendas.

Please, if list members could limit their posts to
sites and citations regarding the data available on
human sacrifice, this would go a long way to advancing
beyond the rhetoric.

This is not a criticism of any individual list members
or their posts.  We are simply trying to keep all
1000+ list members content with our level of
discourse.
