Thanks!

David Lentz and I would like to ask if we could put out a call for
information on Aztlan to see if we can get information on
Precolumbian use of sunflower in Mesoamerica.:
David Lentz of the Chicago Botanic Garden and Mary Pohl of Florida
State University are seeking information on prehistoric or
postconquest references to use of domesticated sunflower in
connection with their discovery of domesticated sunflower as early as
2600 B.C. in Tabasco, Mexico. This Mesoamerican find is significant
because sunflower was thought to have been domesticated only in
eastern North America. Mesoamerican data might be excavated remains,
pictorial images, or ethnohistoric references. The Nahuatl word for
sunflower is chimalatl or "shield flower." Other words are
chimalacatl or chimalxochitl. Our contacts are mpohl at mailer.fsu.edu
or david lentz<linne at sbcglobal.net>. Thank you for your help.
