It is a giant loss.
Her gentle but insistent assertiveness on many good things was
important to us, and we all have personal memories that we cherish.
Just one of mine was a time in Flores when she announced that it
was time to get back on the bus. So as we dutifully started the
herding in that general direction, she just "happened" to notice a
place for cool drinks before we actually had to leave. Often doing
good things for people in the background or in the foreground.
She also was working on some important hypotheses for the future
on geographical origins and migrations of Maya peoples
before they divided and as they were dividing into the Mayan peoples
as we know them today. And many other projects.
A very sad day.
