While this is off topic, I can't let the statement go that Basques 
were victims of the Inquisition. In colonial Mexico one of the few 
groups that in fact were less bothered by the Inquisition were the 
Basques. Unlike any other group they were a priori considered 
nobles, and proof of birth in the Basque country was sufficient for 
purity of blood. There was a significant concentration of Basques in 
the administration of the Inquisition and in the Royal Treasury. So 
if this occurred it certainly was not in New Spain.
