[Aztlan] running time Tenochtitlan to coast

Listeros,
One reads many mentions in the conquest chronicles of the system of runners
that brought news (and fresh fish, or whatever) to the Valley of Mexico from
the Gulf Coast. Has anyone ever seen thoughtful estimates of how long those
relays took? I have a friend who runs in unthinkably awful 50 and 100 mile
trail races in the California mountains. He has designed a program for
himself that lets him plug in topographical details, altitude, etc., to
determine arrival targets at various landmarks when he's running. I thought
to have him apply this model to Mexican terrain and see what he gets, but I
won't bother if this has already been done, and good estimates are already
available. So, know anything about running times?
