I don't have the publication handy, but I have a
feeling that this imagery may also be discussed in:
> Stucco Decoration and Architectural Assemblage of
> Structure 1-Sub, Dzibilchaltun, Yucatan, Mexico. By
> Clemency Coggins (1984). Tulane University, Middle
> American Research Institute, New Orleans.
This publication can still be ordered through MARI:
http://www.tulane.edu/~mari/
It, at the very least, discusses the proposed
connection between water imagery and Maya cosmology.
A search of FAMSI's online bibliography might also be
of use. Unfortunately, I think the best search term
to use would be "watery" (as odd as that may sound).
