[Aztlan] Tikal: The color of Mayan priests

Hello all,

I half-recall reading in a book that Mayan priests would paint themselves blue (maybe it was just before ceremonies) and the soldiers/warriors were painted a different color. Can someone confirm if that was true of the Classic Mayans in Tikal. Also, i haven't been able to find a good explanation for why priests were painted blue. Any ideas on a good online (ideally free) resource or paper that may shed some light on this issue?
