A prof of mine once said that the dictionary should not be in the reference
section of the library but in the Sociology section because the dictionary
is a sociological report on how people use words.  It seems to me that the
problem, if any, is only from on the academic side.  Is it a question or
'right or wrong',  or '2 points off'.  People use the words that they are
taught or not taught.   It seems that the difference needs to be taught
better AND wider if it really is important.  I for one, would rather
concentrate on more important aspects like "Does anyone on the list have a
Maya inscribed  Haab date of  1-X or 20 -X where  X = any of the Haab
months.?
