Dear Sid,
I think you miss the point-- It is not a matter of "sucking up" but a matter
of common courtesy to list the organizations and people that support your
research. Hospitals name pavilions, even individual beds for those who have
supported their efforts. Universities name chairs and buildings for the
people who put up the money. Maybe you feel it is crass and all philanthropy
should be anonymous but it just doesn't work that way.

Probably they left it out because it really doesn't contribute anything to
the story (aside perhaps an ego boost or getting points for future grants.)
Imagine if the project was funded by individual contributors, then would
each press release need to have individual contributors listed? But I guess
that's how the system 'works'
