-ANNOUNCING THE *NEW* AZTLAN JOURNAL-

Estimados Listeros,

The Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican
Studies, inc. (FAMSI) and the Aztlan listserv
moderators are pleased to announce a new online
resource.

FAMSI has agreed to host an online repository for
academic papers, called the “AZTLAN JOURNAL” (in many
ways an homage as well as an expansion of "The Aztlan
E-Journal" from many years ago).

The main goal of the new AZTLAN JOURNAL is to enhance
the sharing of knowledge between professionals,
researchers, teachers, students, and enthusiasts in
the many disciplines of Pre-Columbian studies.

The AZTLAN JOURNAL is intended as a central repository
for professional presentations, research reports,
academic papers and book reviews on both Pre-Columbian
cultures of the Americas and their modern descendants.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR ACADEMIC PAPERS:

*All submissions must be made by the principal author.

*All submissions must be in either Microsoft Word or
PDF format (the final versions will all be converted
to PDF format).

*Images are welcome, but must be imbedded within the
submitted file, complete with captions.

*All papers must conform to standard measures of
academic accuracy and honesty, including full in-text
citations and a complete bibliography.

*Examples of acceptable topics include (but are not
limited to): archaeology, epigraphy, ethnography,
ethnohistory, and related fields.

*Submissions must focus upon native cultures of the
Americas.

*We especially encourage the submission of
professional papers originally presented at national,
regional and local meetings (such as the SAA’s, AAA’s,
Maya Meetings, etc.).

We hope that this service will allow academic papers
that would otherwise be seen only at a conference or
in a classroom to have a wider audience and benefit
everyone in the Aztlan community.

AZTLAN JOURNAL BOOK REVIEWS:

The moderators of AZTLAN have also contacted the
leading presses in the United States for books that
may be reviewed by our members. As these books
arrive, the moderators will seek persons to review the
books for the AZTLAN JOURNAL.

Persons whose books have been recently published
should request that their press send a review copy to
John Schwaller who will serve as the Book Review
editor of the AZTLAN JOURNAL.

If you have acquired a book outside of the U.S. and
would like to review it for AZTLAN, please send a copy
of your review to the moderators for consideration.

an academic paper or book review to our moderators.

Sincerely,

The Aztlan Moderators and FAMSI
