The only major Maya site that I can think of below the point
where either the Usumacinta or the Grijalva break into their
deltaic plain is Comalcalco which lies on the east bank of
an old channel of the Grijalva. There are many smaller sites
- Jonuta, Pomona - along active and abandoned channels.
