This is not relevant to the search for Precolumbian bows and arrows,
but I remember seeing somewhere, in an earlier source (1940s?
Carnegie? Smithsonian? Tribes and Temples?) how the Chols and
people in northern Chiapas/Tabasco had relearned how to use bows and
arrows after they were prohibited from having guns. Note also that
the Lacandons make bows and arrows, altho in living memory they have
only used them as tourist goods. In recent years they reduced them
to the length that will fit in an overhead bin, altho I don't think
you could carry them on these days! (Anyway, there is a nice
dissertation for somebody!).
