olks:

A previous post told how the Pleiades were an
important constellation for the 52 year cycle
ending/beginning, rising at 12 midnight.

Why? If the Pleiades are of a constellation that
appears every year in the same place, in time for the
rains/planting/ etc. why would it be so important for
the change of the 52 year cycle.

It is already very important . . . . every year . . .
for the rain/planting cycle. It would not make any
sense for it to be as important for one time event
every 52 years. . . . . unless the 52 years are
actually 52 weeks of the year

(as 52 countable weeks as found (both in the Madrid
and in the Borgia codices) and the New Year Fire
ceremony (as in Chamula, the running
through the fires in the plaza) is actually similar to
our own New Year's celebration of the changing of the
path of the Sun in the winter time in anticipation of
a new year cycle towards Springtime.
