[Aztlan] Hurricane Dean

Great story that Dave posted. It says a lot.

Here's some detail from the Tekax region. All you anthropologists know that
the closer you
get to an issue the more rich the information. Beside, the media does a
quick once-over and
that's raely sufficient.

The Tekax area and most of South-Central suffered such a dearth of rain
during late
May and June (planting season) that many persons simply did not plant.

Some did and took a chance. My compadre calls them those who
adelantaron" -- got out
ahead. Others, like him, waited.

His maize is knee-high now and was left largely untouched by Hurricane Dean.
Those early-birds
whose corn was higher, got slammed. Sheer physics, eh?

The roof blew off my house but now that my god-daughter is living there, I
think I am safe from
having to buy palm thatch (this time). I'll bet the price of "guano" is
pretty steep currently.
Oh, hell, so I'll chip in some ...
