[Aztlan] Classic Maya Unit of Length

Hi listeros,
As David has pointed, modern maya people still use "mecates" to measure
surfaces and distances, perhaps because it is concordant with the vigesimal
system. For long distances "leguas" (more or less 4.5 Km) is also a common
unit. It is interesting to notice that a great majority of prehispanic
domestic constructions in the Northern Lowlands, spanning at least from Late
Formative through Late Postclassic, usually measure 20 X 20 X 1 m, is this a
coincidence?
