[Aztlan] Unit of Measurement Observation

Someone in one of the last Aztlan issues about this
topic mentioned something about using the
thumb-to-forefinger "inchworm" technique to measure
something.

About 25 years ago my ex-mother-in-law, who was from
Zacatecas, was measuring my (then) husband for a
sweater she was going to crochet for him.  She used
that "inchworm" technique, only she went from thumb to
pinky.  Having been an American at that time, I
thought it was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever
seen; however, when the sweater was ready, it fit my
ex to a tee!  It was the most amazing thing I ever
saw.

Since then I have seen this technique used here in the
Teotihuacan Valley by women who knit and crochet.

Anyway, just an observation about a style of
measurement...........
