All this measurements like the "mecate", the "kaan", the "vara", the "span",
the chinaab", the "kok" and the "cubic" are apparently measurements for
daily use.

But what about the measurements for huge constructions?

I have a very strong feeling that the Maya and the Aztecs must have been
aware of Pythagoras theorem, by which the sum of the square of the sides of
the rectangle is equal of the square of the hypotenuse.

Although the theorem was already known long before Pythagoras, it is
doubtful that the Maya were aware this theorem. But on the other hand if a
constructor wants to make an exact rectangle, not only two dimensional but
also three dimensional, to overcome the law of gravitation, you have to use
and apply Pythagoras theorem.
