Dear Listeros,

Along with Bryan Just, I arranged a special screening
of "The Other Conquest" at Tulane University when the
film was first released a few years ago. We knew it
was in very few theaters around the world, so if we
wanted to see it, we needed to make a special event
out of it. We flew the writer/director in for the
event and he was a wonderful speaker.

Carrasco wanted to show the human / spiritual side of
the conflict between world views during the conquest,
and in this he was highly successful. If some of you
out there have budgets for guest speakers, perhaps the
release of this film on DVD would be a good reason to
once again ask Sr. Carrasco to visit your university
or pre-columbian society meeting, especially if your
organization has a strong latin-american component.
He brought some behind-the-scenes tapes and was
willing to field any and all questions from interested
students, well into the night.

Oh, and the scenes that take place in native Aztec
ceremonial centers were filmed on location at
Xochicalco with INAH permission.

Thanks to Lloyd for reminding me it is now out on DVD.
I've already ordered copies for x-mas presents.

-Dave
