If the "new" pyramid, as described in some news accounts, was found within
Tlatelolco's Templo Mayor it can only be the small pyramid and temple excavated
in the mid-1940s and then covered and sealed in by the nearly intact double
pyramid on view today. Plans and drawings of the earlier pyramid and temple were
published in Tlatelolco á través de los tiempos, and later by González Rul.
Good reproductions of these can also be found in Salvador Gullem's excellent
study of offerings associated with the Ehecatl temple at Tlatelolco.

Additional structural remains are said to have been found in the vicinity of
the inner pyramid, as well as the skulls mentioned in the news reports. These
were not, to my knowledge, identified or recorded in the early excavations.

I for one would like to see a much more detailed and competently writtent
report on these findings.

Saludos y feliz Año Nuevo to all,
Ed Calnek
