Hello listeros,
Classic example would be the group that Cortes brought
back to Spain after his landing in Yucatan in 1519.
They accompanied the "Royal Fifth" exhibition which
toured from Seville to Valladolid to Brussels, but I
haven't seen any precise account of who they were.
Prof. Michael Coe has a fascinating account in
"Breaking the Mayan Code" and also in an earlier
paper. (He argues that this exhibit was the provenance
for the Dresden Codex.)
If anyone knows of more detailed accounts of this
exhibit, beyond the Albrecht Durer quote, I would
dearly love to hear about them.
Many thanks,
Jim Adams
