One classic film that may be in your university film
library is "Raices" ("Roots" in the U.S. release), by
Benito Alazraki (1955). It is a series of short
fictional stories about indigenous peoples of Mexico
in the early 20th century. Included are tales of a
lecherous archaeologist at Tajin and another about a
Maya mother's pilgrimage to Chichen Itza to pray for
her son (who has a deformed eye).
