[Aztlan] Portrayal of Mesoamericans through film...

Last night at the Museum of Anthropology at Wake Forest University we 
presented a panel discussion entitled "Apocalypto: Fact and Fantasy in 
Mel Gibson's Maya World." Panelists were Patricio Balona, a Yukatek Maya 
who is a reporter for the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Jeanne Simonelli, 
an applied cultural anthropologist who works with Zapatista communities 
in Chiapas, and me. If you ever want to do a public presentation on the 
portrayal of Maya in Apocalypto or any other film, or on Maya in the 
modern US, please contact Patricio. He is very articulate, fluent in 
Yukatek, English, and Spanish, and media-savvy, having been a radio and 
TV journalist in Belize before coming to the US ten years ago. You can
