The Department of Chicano Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at the
University of Minnesota invites applications for a full-time, nine-month,
faculty position to begin August 27, 2007. This is a one-year temporary
contract or Visiting Assistant Professor. We are looking for expertise in
Chicana feminist Studies and in Chicana and Chicano History to teach
undergraduate courses in the department.
Candidates will be expected to teach two undergraduate courses in Chicana/o
Studies per semester, to engage actively in department activities, and to
work with students to cultivate their intellectual and social development.
We welcome Ph.D. candidates who are ABD. Candidates must have a strong
commitment to teaching and student development. Salary is competitive.
Preference given to candidates who can contribute to the department's,
college's and university's comparative and interdisciplinary strengths.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. completed or be ABD in a field that has enabled
them to refine their expertise in Chicana/o Studies by the start date of the
appointment (August 29, 2007). Applicants who are ABD may be appointed at
the rank of Instructor.
All applications must include:
1. Curriculum vitae.
2. One sample of written work.
3. Letter that describes training, teaching experience, and
scholarly/research agenda,
4. Evidence of teaching effectiveness or a commitment to
teaching in the form of copies of student evaluations and/or a teaching
statement.
5. The names of three references that are capable of
evaluating the applicant's teaching and research accomplishments.
Additional materials may be requested later.
