[Aztlan] Tsunamis and the Isthmus

Perhaps in other low elevation shores along the Pacific coast of mesoamerica there were impacts by storm driven or tidal seismic surges. But in the area of the Isthmus there are too many mountain ranges; the terrain would stop a tsunami, you're right. Yet, I get the feeling the Olmecs faced some major catastrophe, perhaps not a tsunami, but a volcanic event at San Martin volcano in Vera Cruz or a major hurricane could have made landfall in the region; a flooding event which would have taken the lives of some non-swimmers. The Danzantes at Monte Alban seemed to be swimming for thier lives, could they have been representations of Olmecs?
It is with great wonder that men will ponder the mysteries of the lost, how they met their demise, their remnants awaiting discovery just under the surface.
