Available now for $5
to Ecological Linguistics, PO Box 15156, Washington DC 20003
and if you want the font on CD also a self-addressed address label
with a specification Macintosh or Windows
is the paper
"Cascajal: an Old System of Writing in Mesoamerica"
by Lloyd Anderson
together with a CD containing a font used to type all of the glyphs,
so that others can produce their own analyses more easily.
We need lots of people looking at this and coming up with many
different hypotheses.
The paper contains 6 pages of analysis of reading order, parallel passages,
and some discussion of alternative conceivable interpretations,
together with 4 pages displaying recurring glyphs with their minor
variations, and how to key each of them in the font which is available with
the paper.
The font is available free of charge, currently for Macintosh users
who have their computer with them to copy it from a CD,
wherever I am present at meetings. If you want a CD and do not
want to bring your computer to one of these meetings,
please send the $5 for the CD (includes postage / handling).
During spring 2007, the meetings where this will be available
will be the Philadelphia and DC Pre-Columbian Societies,
the Tulane symposium February 2-4, 2007,
the Maya Meetings in Austin, Texas, March 9-16, 2007,
the Maya Weekend at University of Pennsylvania Museum, April 13-15,
and the Society for American Archaeology, Austin, Texas, April 25-28.
A Windows version of the font should be available shortly
in the same manner, probably at the same meetings.
Best wishes,
Lloyd Anderson
