I'm going back to an ancient thread for a moment...

The Popul Vuh mentions a lightning god named "Juraqan Lightning Bolt" (I'm 
reminded by reading Karen Bassie's mesoweb.com manuscript) . The Taino also 
have the word "huracan." Is one a loan from the other? I remember Nick 
Hopkins writing: "You don't get loanwords without contact."
