FORWARDED POST FROM MARIO MALO:
Finally I think I have found a symbol for Aztlan! But
is it real or someones interpretation? I cannot find a
Codex Buturinis. I have seen the Chicomoztoc drawing
which is similar, OK here is what I found : On the
Mexican state flag of Nayarit according to the Decree
of Aug. 28, 1970, Perodico oficial de Estado: In the
centre or heart of the shield, a small shield bordered
in white (silver) with seven foot prints distributed
symmetrically. These symbolize the Nahuatl seven
tribes pilgrimage from Aztlan towards Tenochitlan,
according to the Pilgrimage Scroll of the Buturinis
Codex. Centered in the small shield on purple , the
stylized petroglyph of the Eagle of Aztlan in green.
The shield is mantled in green, blue and gold. since
these are the colors of the Nayarit landscapes. The
state of Nayarit claims that Aztlan is where the seven
tribes started from and have put this interpolation on
their flag. Mario F. Malo
