The Popol Vuh has been translated by Wolgang Cordan, among a few others,
from the Quiché.

Wolgang Cordan was born in Berlin in 1909.

He discovers his interests for old cultures while he was an assistant at the
University of Istanbul.

In 1953 he went to Mexico.

He lived there among the Indio's and learned their many dialects.

After eight years of intensive searching he succeeded to decipher the Maya
language,

and a great deal of original Popol Vuh in Quiché.

He died on an expedition in Guatemala.

I don't think he was searching for De Landa, nor his remnants.

Nor he was murdered by him, because they were living in different periods of
time.
