As far as I know   Hurricane  comes from the Arawak (Arauaco)  "Urakan"  the Taino god of the winds, represented in cemis with twirling arms
other arawak words in common use:
Tobaco  actually the nose pipe used for smoking,
Cohiba  the actual plant (among others) that you would burn in your tobaco
Bar-b-que   "Barbacoa"  any pit in the ground such as in a pit BBQ.  They also made bigger barbacoas in which to hide when "URAKAN" came around.
Yuca... manioc
Casabe... the bread  made from yuca flour... still eaten in the caribean, and good
