I've tried searching the FAMSI site for William Gates, but although I
get 1057 results for Bibliografía Mesoamericana, 25 results for Other
Research, I get zero results when I click on the links, so I am asking
for some help.

As I commented in the thread on the name of Cancun, on pages 136-137 of
the Dover edition of "Yucatan Before and After the Conquest" a map
titled "Yucatan in 1579" shows Cancun identified as "I. Cancuen."

The caption does not explain who drew this map nor does it clearly
identify the sources except to mention "the Espinosa map," which I
presume is "Espinosa, Antonio Ca. 1910 Mapa de la peninsula de Yucatán
(México) comprendiendo los estados deYucatán y Campeche y el territorio
de Quintana Roo," referenced in "The Book of Chilam Balam of Chumayel"
by Ralph L. Roys Washington D.C.; Carnegie Institution (1933).

On page 121, in "The Xiu Family Papers," Gates refers to "3: A map, here
reproduced from the original, on a double-page, on a double-page sheet,
to go with the preceding, certified text." The "text" is identified as
having been "dated 1557," but this appears to refer to the map on page 133.

I am sure I am missing something, but Gates' manner of presenting
references is a bit confusing, so I will appreciate any advice on
tracking down the original sources.
