Hi Everyone,

I was inspired by Justin Kerr’s poem (of March 23) to send the following
poem for perhaps somewhat related consideration on the subject of
quatrefoil-portals.

                                             Maya Blue

When you truly desire to fly,
you will
                                             know how to

                                             dressed in cotinga & quetzal
feathers
                                             glued carefully on your skin

you begin by painting, air &
water
                                             aquamarine, cobalt, cyan,
cerulean,

then cut a horizon as sharp
                                             as an obsidian blade.

                                             Draw a circle.
                                             Light it with jaquar lily
flames.

                                             Finally, when your brush is
poised
                                             with longing

                                             sketch the bright teal
                                             curve of your own wings

                                             climbing an airborne stairway
on the back of Ehecatl -

wind as master, you are its’
exuberant child
                                             lost in azul

while the world sails on, over
the lazuline
                                             edge of your painting.
