Thanks to John Hoopes for bringing this to our attention.

An article has appeared on a mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) study
of populations from Mesoamerica into parts of South America.
The authors conclude that there is an especially strong relation
between Maya and Chibchan peoples,
the latter both from parts of Panama and from parts of Colombia.

It is only one article, but still interesting.
