Since you asked about Mesoamerica, of course in the Nahua region and 
throughout the higher temperate and altiplano people slept on the 
ubiquitous petate (petlatl).  It is found throughout the iconography, 
codices, narratives, literature, etc.  You can even buy them in the 
markets today.  It is a woven mat that is rolled up during the day, 
unrolled at night.
