Hi Everybody,
(Konemann 2001; 205) Makes this statement about Copan and the Montagua River:
"Because the river makes strong meanders in this area, and has therefore swept parts of the building away, it is no longer possible to identify the relations between city and river. In the area to the north-west of the center, which was formerly filled with different size courtyards, the river's course, indicated in the original structure, is diverted over a suspension bridge. Few archeological remains of stone bridges have been found in the Maya region, although some have been identified in nearby Pusihla."
Regards,
David
