Hello Everyone,
The annual Maya Meetings at Austin have had a 30+ year-long tradition of relying upon volunteers to assist with the preparation and implementation of the Hieroglyphic Workshops and the Lecture Symposium. Click here to see some of the history of these meetings: http://www.utmaya.org/archives.html. In the spirit of continuing that tradition, we are seeking nominations for Team Leader Volunteer positions. These positions are unpaid appointments that require maturity, creativity, and a professional positive attitude. If you know of someone who fits this description or you are this person, please reply to this message off-line.
Click here to view and print a flyer about the 2008 meetings and our call for volunteers http://www.utmaya.org/mm08volunteers.pdf. You do not have to be a student to be a team leader. Team leader positions include, but are not limited to Librarian, Transportation Planner, Computer and Copy Machine Specialist, Audio-Visual Specialist, etc.
For the first time in its history, the meetings will not be held during the University of Texas Spring Break, but will take place just before that time to avoid conflicts with the annual South by Southwest Music and Film Festival. I hope to see you there.
Let me know if you have questions or comments,
Elaine Schele
2007 -2008 Volunteer Coordinator
