[Aztlan] Reason & Origin for name "Atlantean" Columns

 Dear Listeros

The term was coined at a time when Greek and Latin
were still popular subjects in school.  

The student/researchers noticed that the columns were
usually human figures that were holding their hands up
high to support something above them, similar to the
Atlas figure holding the globe of the world. 

So not to be confused with the Afro-Greco image of
Atlas, and knowing that the Atlantic was newly named,
fairly recently for them, they called the figures
"Atlanteans:
