Dear Jerry and Roberto,

The short answer to Jerry's question is no, no one has examined the
areas around the holes in the sculptures. Elizabeth Jimenez is preparing
a catalogue of Tula sculpture with the aid of a FAMSI grant but she has
her hands full trying to catalogue over 900 pieces of sculpture in the
Jorge R. Acosta Museum on the Tula site and make some basic sense of the
iconography. Wear pattern and residue analyses might prove very
informative in this case.
