I would like to thank Dea for forwarding the following link:

Without any first-hand knowledge of this site, I must admit that the discovery of the hollow white baby-face figurines at Tamtok argue against Dr. Diehl's assertion that nothing prior to the Early Classic has been found there (these figurines are generally assigned to the early portion of the Middle Formative / Middle Preclassic). However, this is only based upon the brief summary seen in the link above. I would certainly defer to Dr. Diehl if he feels this interpretation is in error based upon additional info.

I have seen numerous photographs of the now-famous monument from Tamtok
and despite all the hoopla about its "Olmec" connections, it is clearly
Postclassic in date, probably carved in the century before the Spanish
conquest. Furthermore, the exhaustive studies by French archeologists at
the site revealed nothing earlier than Early Classic. Somebody has been
trying to blow this up into something it most definitely is not. Sorry.
