[Aztlan] Fake monuments and accurate reproductions?

Dear All,
As we read these comments, there are a number of ongoing projects that are
laser scanning monuments. Let us hope that funds can be raised to turn these
scans into objects that could replace those that are in danger of
destruction.
However, the fear always exists that objects will be reproduced and the
originals hidden away from the prying eyes of those of us who feel that the
original produces an awe that can never be obtained from a reproduction.
