Listeros,

Geneticists led by a team from the University of Illinois are
positing that the First Americans began their journey from Siberia
30,000 years ago but stayed in Beringia, the land mass connecting
Siberia to Alaska at that time, for some 15,000 years before being
able to enter the New World. Thus genetic changes happened in that
group before they reached the New World.

Their data seems to show that the group arriving in 15,000 BCE
rapidly diffused down through the Americas. The data also indicates
that there was movement back and forth from Siberia to the New World
much more than had been thought before.
