Florida Atlantic University Seventh Annual Maya Hieroglyphic Workshop and
Lecture

 

Speakers: Victoria R. Bricker and Harvey M. Bricker, Tulane University and
the University of Florida

 

Friday Lecture, October 5th: 

Dr. Harvey M. Bricker

Title: "Astronomy of the Ancient Maya, In Their Own Words"

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Location: FAU Social Science Building Room 250 

 

Lecture is free and open to the public

 

Saturday Hieroglyphic Workshop, October 6th: 

Drs. Victoria R. Bricker and Harvey M. Bricker

Title: "Reconstructing Maya History from Hieroglyphic Texts"

Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday, October 6, 2007

Location: FAU Social Science Building Room 190.

 

The workshop will be conducted at an introductory level. Students will be
introduced to the principles of the ancient Maya writing system. Study
materials will be provided.

 

Pre-registration is required for all workshop participants. The hieroglyphic
workshop is free to all students. For non-students, we request a $35
donation to partially offset the cost of the workshop.
