[Aztlan] roads of indigenas in Veracruz

Hello:
I'm a lurker and I have a question.  My husband and I live between Xico and
Coátepec in the state of Veracruz.  We and some friends would like to know
if there is information available about pre-Cortés roads in the state of
Veracruz, or if there are any guidelines for determining what might be
pre-Cortés roads.  We hike through the area frequently in areas off the
beaten track and come upon old stone roads and paths.  However, we are well
aware that people still make such roads.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.
