with the commentary on Nicaraguan geology, it reminds me of an old query I 
have, which is unanswered yet:

Does anyone know anything about the geologist John Crawford, who collected 
archaeological specimens for the Peabody Museum at Harvard, in the 1890s?  He 
was the state geologists for about a decade, but I can't track him before or 
after.
