[Aztlan] ANCIENT MIXTEC CREMATED DEAD FOUND

Evidence has been found that the ancient Mixtecs were cremating their  
dead by 1000 BCE and that elite leaders emerged among the Mixtecs by  
1100 BCE. Two Mixtec graves were uncovered in Tayata, Oaxaca. The  
dead were placed in graves, burned and then re-buried near their  
homes. Bones of dogs, deer and fish were found with them indicating  
the dead were of high status and the graves revealed dogs were a main  
dietary component.

No such graves have been found nearby indicating these were indeed  
elite burials. There was no evidence of trauma on the skeletons.
