You may wish to look at the vase K8351 where a rather large macaw/parrot is
part of a sacrifice. Granted there is some artistic license in this scene.

I didn't realize there were so many dog burial sites in the Southwest 
and appreciate the post & links!
Ceremonial use of animals is a topic quite fascinating- thank you!

There's a photograph of a Macaw buried with a human child in a zooarch 
book that fascinates this parrot lover.
Does anyone know  if this was a common practice among the Maya or within 
the Americas?

Know of anything published on parrot burials?
