If a building once had a coat of plaster then how would it be a breach of "ethics and theoretical principles of monuments conservation" to restore it to original condition?

Isn't that assuming that a building's acoustical effects were not as important to the Maya as the visual?

Maya archaeology, the study of their materials and manufacture can yield
valuable information, especially if studied along other sources of
evidence such as ethnographic descriptions.
