[Aztlan] Maya Ball Game

Hola from sunny Puerto Morelos, Mexico.
After watching the re-enactment of the Maya Ball Game at Xcaret (great
evening show) again last night and then
popping over to Chichen Itza today, I'm struck by the impossible nature of
using one's hips/body to get a ball though
such high rings as there are at Chichen. Unlike ball parks at other
Yucatan sites I recall, Chichen's court is not only
huge but has relatively small slanted sides. I am ashamed to say major
discrepancies between field configurations
never dawned on me before. It's a lot more than the difference between
Shea and Yankee Stadiums.

Additionally, if Chichen's games were more ceremonial than other cities,
there isn't much spectator space available so
only the biggest muckamucks could have watched. How accurate is Xcaret's
re-enactment?

Any comments?

P.S. I realize the reasoning behind it but I lament that none of the ruins
are accessible to climb anymore.
