Listeros,
INAH has announced that more than 130 hieroglyphs on the Sabana
Piletas staircase in Campeche have been deciphered. The text is well
preserved. The site was occupied 600-1000 AD. Nikolai Grube and Carlos
Pallan Gayol made the preliminary deciphering. The date on the first 8
glyphs corresponds to the 18th or 25th of December, 858 CE. Ball game
glyphs are represented perhaps showing the staircase was a sacrificial
staircase. There is evidence of a blue stucco covering that would be
related to sacrifice.
