Subject: Re: [Aztlan] Xalitla figures
Just a quick web search for "Xalitla" and "1500" resulted in at least one
hit that supports Jorge's and Miguel's assertion that these "Xalitla
Figures" are likely Xochipala figurines:

Here's another online example:

Mary Ellen Miller's "The Art of Mesoamerica, from Olmec to Aztec" also
places the beginning of this figurine tradition at 1500 BC.
I don't pretend to be an expert on this, so I'll leave the debate over the
chronological placement up to others (perhaps someone on this list could
give us all a brief refresher course on this style?). But Jim Catalano
would certainly be well served to focus his research upon the "Xochipala"
style figurines.
