Listeros,

INAH reports that the Tehuacalco Archaeological Zone was inaugurated
today. Pyramids, petroglyphs and caves where sun cults were celebrated
exist in the Zone. Tehuacalco peaked between 650-1100 CE. The site is
the first site of the Yope culture that has been explored. It managed
to remain independent of the Aztecs because of its remote location. It
is located between 4 prominent hills marking the 4 cardinal points and
many structures face east where the sun rises. The petroglyphs are
dominated by carved human footprints. The caves are man-made and
places where ritual food was offered to the gods. 54 of these caves
have been found.
